Seitan strips recipe
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup vital wheat gluten
- 1/4 cup pea protein
- 3 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1/4 tsp cajun powder
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp lemon salt (citric acid)
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tbsp onion powder
- 1 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 1/2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp oat milk
- 3-4 tbsp water
- 1/2 cube vegetable stock dissolved in 1 cup of hot water for simmering
- Dissolve 1/2 vegetable cube in a cup of hot water and set it aside.
- Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
- Add in the wet ingredients and mix by hand by pushing the seitan into a ball without kneading.
- Slice the seitan ball into strip and fry in some oil till dark brown on both sides.
- Add the dissolved veggie stock to the pan and let it simmer till all the water evaporates.
- Let it rest for 5 minutes then serve it on top of any dish as meat replacement.
